Department of Moulika Siddhanta (Basic Principles) including Sanskrit
This department deals with study of the fundamental concepts of Ayurveda. Also called the department of Samhita and Siddhanta as the fundamentals are taught from the classical text books of Ayurveda viz; Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, Ashtanga Hridaya, etc. Since fundamentals are essential for any subject to be understood, this department becomes very much relevant from first year to final year enlightening students with various classical text books of Ayurveda, the fundamentals of Research and Medical Statistics.
Sanskrit
Sanskrit: The literature of Ayurveda, almost entirely is written in Sanskrit and knowledge of Sanskrit is crucial for understanding the subjects properly. Since there are students who have no exposure to Sanskrit during their earlier classes, this language is taught to Ayurvedic students during first year of their course. Besides giving adequate exposure for learning the science, personality development of students is also focused on through teachings from Panchatantra, Ayurvedeeya Hitopadesha, etc.
